Here are four ways that your visual branding might be coming off wrong to your ideal customer:
1. No strategy
You’ve got no strategy so you really have no idea who you’re talking to. You have no idea who you’re trying to attract, you’re just kind of flying by the seat of your pants.
2. Disconnect between brand voice and visuals
Your brand’s voice doesn’t match your brand’s visuals. For example, maybe you’re pretty edgy and you’re selling a pretty edgy product, but then your brand colors are baby pink.
3. No strategy to calls to action on your website
There’s no real rhyme or reason to why your website is set up the way it is and you don’t have clear call to actions.
4. DIY branding (that maybe you created on a whim without much thought)
Your digital branding is completely DIY….and you admit that maybe you made it on Canva or didn’t quite know what you were doing.
So how do you fix these problems??
It’s easy. All you’ve got to do is hire a brand strategist and designer (I know one you’d just love *wink wink*), and all your problems will be a thing of the past.
What even is a strategy session(try saying that five times fast) ?
With each branding client that I take on, I do a big strategy session to get a feel for their brand, and where they’re wanting to go in the future. We just really get clear on who their customer is so that we can brand toward their customer that they want to attract, rather than branding just because it’s cute. We want there to be a reason behind every single design decision that I make, and the way to do that is to strategize before I start designing.
