Here are a few tips on how to make your website stand out!
Get professional photos, I cannot stress this enough. The better your photos look, the more your product or service will sell. If you’re going to DIY something to save cash, this is not the place to do it. Photos are everything, and you will earn back every penny you spend to hire a great photographer.
Use sections and white space throughout your site to bring the eye exactly where you want your clients to look. I’m talking about things like your calls to action, your best selling products, make sure that space on your screen stands out. I’ve seen (and I’m sure you have too) too many websites that are just super busy from top to bottom, all over the screen. I’ve also seen the opposite, where a website is just so plain that nothing stands out. Pick and choose the most important places and set them apart from the rest of your website.
Last, visual branding really matters, so be sure that you have a great logo, submarks, and an amazing color palette. You want your clients to know they’re looking at your work before they ever see your company name.
Your logo is your main graphic, super detailed, includes your company name, and sometimes a tagline. It’s great to use when you have a ton of space to work with, or when somebody is seeing your brand for the first time, like at the top of your website.
A submark is a super basic graphic that represents your logo. It usually does not include any writing, although you could use initials. Your clients should be able to see this image in a small space, and recognize your brand immediately. I love to use submarks on things like thank you cards, clothing tags, letterhead, etc.
Match the colors in your photos to the color palette you’ve chosen for your brand.
Your customers will know you, and recognize your brand the second they see anything from you.
