I'm here to help you build a bold brand and website to help you achieve game-changing results.
Hey, I'm Erika!
Helping small businesses make sense of Shopify is kind of my thing. A question I get asked fairly often is whether or not you can edit your shopify site without it reflecting onto your website. And the answer to that is YES, here’s how.
The first thing you’re going to want to do is go to your Shopify dashboard and then click on Online Store and Themes.
From there, find Actions on your current theme,
and then select Duplicate from the drop down menu. The copy of your theme will be found in a list below your published theme.
Then all you need to do is click on customize, on the right.
From there, just edit to your heart’s content. It is not going to be showing on your live shop.
Preview what it will look like live
Before you make your changes live, you can see what your changes look like
Go back to your dashboard
Click actions next to your copied them.
Then Preview from the dropdown menu.
And there is our copy that is NOT live.
Publish your newly edited website
When you feel like your new site is ready for public eyes, you publish it just like your did your original site! Need a refresher?
From your dashboard, click Online Store and Themes.
Find your website copy in your list in the Theme Library and click the Actions drop down menu.
You’ll be asked if you’re totally certain that you’re ready to that, and you just need to confirm by clicking Publish again.
You are live!
Can I publish from the editor instead?
If you’re still in the editor, you’ll see the button that says Publish right next to your Save button. It’s just up in the top right corner.
You’ll be asked if you’re totally certain you’re ready, and you just click Publish one more time, and you’re done!
