In today’s digital world, you can’t have a successful business without an online presence. But building and designing a website is a lot of work and can seem overwhelming. So much goes into creating and maintaining a website. Many people prefer to hire a professional web designer (like me!) to help them. Just like with everything else though, it’s important to shop around and do your research to make sure you are getting the best designer for you and your business. It’s a big decision to put your trust–and your money–into someone else to help you build your brand. Here are 5 things to consider when hiring a designer for your brand or website:
Make sure you check out your potential designer’s work! Look at their own website. Look at websites and projects they have done for other clients. Check their social media accounts: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc. You need to make sure you like the work that they do and feel good about what they have to offer to you and your brand.
If you’re like me, you really don’t like talking on the phone, but sometimes texting and emailing just won’t cut it! You need to have an actual conversation with your potential designer. You need to talk about your vision for your website and brand and hear what their vision is as well. Make sure you are compatible with this person. You don’t want to hire someone who has a different vision as you or who you just don’t get along with or like.

What do their other clients say about them? Did they like the work this designer did for them? What was it like to work with them? Although there isn’t a “one size fits all” designer out there, knowing what other clients have to say about them and their work can help give you an idea of what you will be getting from hiring them as your web designer.
Is this designer going to “grab the bull by the horns” and get the job done? Or are you going to have to nag and remind and really push them to work for you? I don’t know about you, but I would prefer the first one. I want someone who is excited and motivated to work with me.
This is what it all comes down to. Your business and your brand are special and important to you. Do you trust this designer with your hard work? Do they have the expertise needed to give you what you want for your brand? It is so important to have a designer you feel good working with, someone that understands what it all means to you and how much you have put into making your business what it is today.
Building your online presence takes time and work, but that’s what I am here for! Are you ready to take your business to the next level? Let’s schedule a call and talk about how I can help!
